Biography
Shaykh Abubakar al Khalafi (Abubakar Jama Egal) is a scholar of Islamic law, legal strategist, and community leader based in the United Kingdom.
He began his formal studies at the Islamic University of Madinah at the age of seventeen, where he completed a Diploma in Arabic Language and subsequently earned a Bachelor’s degree in Islamic Law (Sharīʿah).
He later completed postgraduate studies in education and Islamic legal theory and is currently pursuing doctoral research (PhD) specialising in Uṣūl al-Fiqh (Islamic Legal Theory).
Over the past several years, Shaykh Abubakar has served in numerous roles involving Islamic counselling, mediation, and legal guidance.
He has extensive experience assisting individuals and families with marital issues, divorce, reconciliation, Islamic contracts, inheritance, financial matters, and personal spiritual challenges.
He currently serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Quba Islamic Foundation in Leicester and is actively involved in Islamic education, curriculum development, and community services.
In addition to his legal and academic work, Shaykh Abubakar has undertaken formal counselling training and has worked extensively with individuals facing anxiety, obsessive thoughts (waswās), marital breakdown, addiction, and other personal challenges.
His approach combines classical Islamic scholarship, comparative fiqh, practical counselling skills, and a deep understanding of the social realities facing Muslims living in the West.
