Dr Sheikh Aziz Ur Rehman

Dr. Aziz Ur Rehman is a distinguished UAE-based Shari’ah scholar, academic, arbitrator, auditor, and internationally recognised authority in Islamic banking and finance, Takaful, Halal, and contemporary Shari’ah practice.

He holds a PhD in Islamic Banking and Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia, alongside advanced academic training in Islamic finance and specialised study of Fiqh, Ifta and Judiciary. His traditional foundation includes Shahadatul Aalamiyah and Dars-e-Nizami, complemented by professional certifications including CSAA and CIPA from AAOIFI, Certified Islamic Finance Arbitrator, Certified Takaful Professional, and AAOIFI Certified Trainer for Shari’ah Standards.

With nearly two decades of experience in the UAE and international markets, Dr. Rehman has held senior Shari’ah leadership roles including Vice President and Shari’ah Controller at Watania Takaful, and senior positions with Noor Bank, Noor Takaful, Mawarid Group, Al Wifaq Finance, Union National Bank, and Dar Al Istithmar.

His distinguished contribution has earned five major awards and recognitions, including Best Takaful Industry Shari’ah Scholar at the Global Takaful Awards 2024 and the Tamayyaz Award in Shari’ah Audit in the UAE.

An active researcher and author, he has published more than 14 research papers and co-authored a book on Takaful and Islamic finance.

His expertise spans Shari’ah governance, Islamic finance, Takaful, Fatwa interpretation, product structuring, arbitration, dispute resolution, Halal, and contemporary Fiqh.
